For background, YouSendIt was one of the pioneers of file sharing, offering a service that mainly appealed to behind-the-firewall customers who were unable to send large files via email due to Microsoft Exchange limitations. The company has since expanded to file-sharing across a number of platforms, including mobile and desktop. YouSendIt has 28 million registered users worldwide.
Prior to joining YouSendIt, Ivan was SVP at Adobe, where he managed the Acrobat and Enterprise LiveCycle Document Services Business Unit. Previously, he served as Division President of BEA System and was also the President and COO of S2 Systems.
YouSendIt was originally founded by Amir Shaikh, Ranjith Kumaran, and Khalid Shaikh, who isfacing sentencing over a cyberattack on the company. You can read more about the story here.
A spokesperson for YouSendIt says that Koon will be leaving the company as it looks for a CEO that “has more experience navigating funding markets.” We heard from a source that YouSendIt, which has raised $50 million in funding, is eyeing an IPO in 2013. We’ve also heard the company saw $40 million in revenue in 2011, and is expected to double sales this year.
